Hello! I’m so excited to be back with a fresh project. I have been away learning new things and this new website is the product of all that learning. It is a work in progress but I feel it has got to the stage where I have my stamp on it and I’m ready to share with the world. So welcome to my spanking new corner of the crafty internet lets kick off with a little bit of striking simple stamping. Is there anything better than creating something beautiful with a little bit of card stock, ink and a stamp? I think not!
Today’s project
This project came about as I had not been crafting/creating recently and when I have a run like that, for whatever reason, I like to ease back in gently starting with the basics. I had received the stamp set Amazing silhouettes [157814] from the January-June Mini Catalogue FREE for taking part in a demonstrator exclusive event with Stampin’ Up! The style of this stamp set is not something I would be naturally drawn to and so it was not on my initial wish list. So I challenged myself to incorporate it into this striking simple stamping project.

Those who have visited before know I am frugal with my coloured card stock and almost always start with a basic white thick card base and add a colour matt rather than using my coloured card for card bases. The colours used in these simple stamping cards where Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight. You can see that the Amazing Silhouettes stamps create a brilliant water colour shading effect without any effort from me. These are “dist-ink-tive” stamps and the way there are made picks up different levels of ink creating the lighter and darker shades for you. I matched the colour of the ink used for stamping the image to the coloured card matt to highlight how brilliantly Stampin’ Up! products coordinate. The sentiment was stamped from Blessings of Home [157930] stamp set. The of course a little bit of bling from the Iridescent Rhinestones [158130] which i think pick up the colour of the card and ink wonderfully.
Mojo back – let’s step it up a notch
I’ll admit the striking simple stamping cards got the creative juices flowing again and I was chuffed to bits with how this stamp turned out considering I didn’t think it was my style. Happy to declare I was wrong and so glad Stampin’ Up! sent me this set to get a chance to play with something I would not have bought myself.

Now I will confess that I have recently fell in love madly and deeply with our Blushing Bride colour. I am, in no way at all, a pink person, but recently this has grown on me and paired with our Smoky Slate I think it is a winning combination. So what do I mean when I say “step it up a notch”? This just means there is a little more work in putting this project together. Perhaps an extra layer, or additional technique. In this case it was the additional process of popping the stamped image through our soon to be retiring Tasteful Textures embossing folder [152718] and creating the sentiment with the Amazing Thanks dies [157816] that coordinate with the stamp set. I love a word die and the fact that this set includes that solid matt to go underneath the detailed word die means no fussy cutting! I have got better at it over the years but I still avoid it where possible. How different does this card look in a different colour way?
