Amanda’s send a paper hug challenge fundraiser for the charity PSPA
PERSONAL

For 2023 I wanted to find a way to raise funds for a charity close the hearts of Gary and myself – PSPA – Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association
As a paper crafter and Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I have a growing stash of samples. These include cards, gift bags and boxes, money/voucher wallets, bookmarks and box sets of cards that have no purpose. Other demonstrators leave theirs into local charity shops to sell but none on my high street support the charity close to my heart. Gary and I wanted to find a way to raise money with my collection. Knowing this was going to slowly grow as the year went on and we had more classes.
I endeavour to send cards as a thank you to my customers. But also “just because” as I know the joy I get when an unexpected card arrives that lets you know someone has thought of me. Have you ever witnessed someone open a card and not smile? It truly feels like getting a “paper hug!” and so the Send a paper hug challenge was born.
How does the challenge work?
I have created a fundraising corner in the staff room at my full time day job containing my samples. My challenge to everyone is to pick a card every now and again and send someone “a paper hug”. Let them know they were thinking about them, make them smile and make a donation for any item they take. I haven’t set a price. I have left that to everyone’s discretion.
My plan is to keep topping it up through the year. I have the opportunity to claim 100% matched funding from my employer at the end of the year.
How you can support!
As I was sharing about my set up in work, people asked how they could help when they cannot come to my staff room! As I had anticipated my work colleagues dealing in cash I had not set up a fund raising page. But I now realise, who the heck has change these days?! and others outside of work might want to support this cause.
As a result I have created a Just Giving page. The QR code below will take you directly to the page. Here you can read the story about why this charity is so important to me and to make any donation you can spare. Some folk have asked about a possible “pot luck” selection. This would be where they make a small donation and I select something on their behalf from the stash and forward it on to them. If this is something you would like then reach out for sure!
