Learn how to make this simple and versatile card layout that is easy once you know how!
Introducing the angled cut card…

This project came about because I wanted to make the beautiful Sun Prints designer series paper (DSP) from the newly launched Annual Catalogue the star of the show and I needed a quick project due to a last minute change to a craft get together.
I have used this simple and versatile card layout in the past but after seeing it used in Pinterest I knew it was the perfect technique for my get together.
What you will need to create this yourself
- Basic white thick card base 4″ x 11 1/2″ – scored at 5 3/4″
- Basic white card matt 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″
- Designer series paper panel 2 1/4″ x 5″
- basic white panel for center 2″ x 5″
- Scrap pieces of basic white and starry sky card for sentiment and decorative die cuts
How to put it all together
- Place piece of Designer series paper in trimmer (portrait orientation) with top left corner sitting at the 3/4″ mark and the bottom left corner on the 1 1/2″ and cut
- Insert the 2″ x 5″ basic white panel into the Fern 3D embossing folder and through your die cutting machine of choice. This piece can be anything decorative like a contrasting piece of DSP or vellum. I’m loving white on white right now
- Adhere the embossed panel to the center of the basic white card matt followed by the two pieces of cut DSP at the top and the bottom leaving a boarder around all edges
- Stamp chosen sentiment in starry sky ink and die cut with tag of your choice
- Die cut decorative “foliage” in starry sky card stock and add to center of topper and attach by placing ends under the die cut sentiment raised on dimensionals
- Add dimensionals (foam pads) to basic white card matt and adhere to card front to create a bit of depth and interest
So there you have it. It is hard to believe making 1 single cut on a small panel of DSP and separating them with a contrasting panel it can make such an impact. A brilliant way to use up scraps of gorgeous paper. What do you think of this new Sun Prints DSP?
